While I was taking the girls to school today, on the radio they were talking about the child like things they do, and why they’re not an adult. Then I realized that even though in just a few weeks I will be 28 I still haven’t “grown up”.
I started thinking about all of my child like traits. And there are a lot.
I also have a headband that’s shaped like a tiara. When it’s on, I looks like a normal glittery headband, but tipped on it’s side you can see the tiara shape. I bought it figuring no ones going to really tell that it’s a tiara and I can relive my dreams of being a princess. Then I remembered that most people are taller then me, there for they can see the design of the tiara.
More often then not, I don’t actually brush my hair… I don’t have a reason, maybe it’s because I keep losing my hair brush.
I can’t handle sugar. If I drink even just a can of Coke I end up bouncing off the walls. Now before you go on about caffeine, I Sprite and Faygo make me hyper too.
I will pay extra for a pretty color, or glitter.
I am impatient, I have such a hard time waiting for anything.
I even wear mismatched flip flops. I buy a lot of the cheap $1.00 flip flops, but I’m also extremely disorganized, and some times i just can’t be bothered to find two of the same color. So as long as I have a left, and a right shoe I’m good to go.
I almost always have candy. I’ve actually got a drawer of candy, complete with fun dip, pixystix candy canes, and sour gummy worms. Normally I’ve only got skittles, but I’ve given them up for lent. Makes for the longest 40 days ever.
While talking about sleeping, I can’t sleep with out certain blankets. I have like five tied up fleece blankets and a knitted one too. When ever I go anywhere I have to make sure that I bring one of the fleece blankets, and the knitted one.
I talk to inanimate objects, and give them opinions. For the record my computer hates me, and my phone loves to play hide and seek.
When I find a show that I like I obsess over it. I started watching the 100 and I finished season 1 with in 24 hours. Also that show is very emotional, I literally had a steady stream of tears through out the first like 8 episodes
Umm… I think that’s enough… For now… So tell me Do you still hold onto any child like behaviors?

When I was 12 my grandma died. A few weeks later we were all still very sad about it. Then one day, my sister was watching TV, and out of the corner of her eye through a crack in the curtain she seen something move. When she got up she found a tiny kitten all alone in the yard. She picked it up and took it inside. My other sister and I got home and saw the tiny kitty and quickly fell in love, and for the first time in two weeks we were genuinely happy. When our mom came home, because we were so happy she let us keep her. We named her Angel, it seemed appropriate. For the next 14 years I had grown very attached to her. When ever I couldn’t sleep should would come lay on my chest and I would pet her until I fell asleep. She helped me learn how to get through a panic attack, by laying on my chest, and I would match my breathing to hers, slowing mine down and calming down.
Two years ago today, my Angel kitty died.
But lets go back a few more months, my cat and dog caught fleas. I tried the baths, and the collars, and even the medicine. None of those helped. Dawn dish soap and a flea comb is how we finally got rid of the them. Sissy (my dog), went back to her normal self. Angel, however never did. She had stopped eating. I had tried everything, different flavor, different brand, I tried canned food. I even tried pouring milk over her food so she could get some of the nutrients like we did when we first found her.
Fast forward to two years ago. One night Angel had curled up between me and a pillow, instead of her normal place, I had noticed that she was barely breathing. Terrified I called the only vet with an emergency number, who me the number was “for if your dog got hit by a car” or something It was a sunday evening and he was already in bed. She made it through the night, so as soon as the vet was open I got her in and looked at. They never did figure out what was wrong, they gave her fluids through an I.V. Then gave me some cans of special food, that I was to water down, and feed her with a syringe. So I went home and got her to eat the amount he wanted her to eat. I was to feed her three times a day. So the next two days I would feed her before I went to babysit, left during nap time while my sister watched the kids, feed her again, and then once more before I went to bed. She was getting better, she was getting more active.
Until Thursday, She fought me. she didn’t want to be picked up, she didn’t want to be held, I had never been so happy to have cat scratches on my arms. Any way She calmed down and I had just started feeding her. She coughed once and then covered her face and was gone. It’s easily the worst thing I had experienced in I don’t know how long, probably since my Grandma had passed away.
I managed to keep it together around the kids. I had too my niece was struggling nearly as much as I was. All I did was go to work, come home cried, and watched pitch perfect and glee. That was basically all I did, for the next almost two weeks, until I got Maizy.

I can’t cook. I mean, yes, I can manage to make breakfast and lunch every day for the kids, but it’s a miricale if I can get them to eat anything but cereal in the mornings, and lunch is easy to cook. However I love baking. I don’t know why I just do. I cant tell you why I don’t mind getting egg on my hands, but if I have to touch raw chicken I want to cry.
Any way; I was at the store one day and I had seen a string of mini candy canes, and I thought they’d be great on borwnies. So I bought them and decided I was going to make some.
Ok now brownies are quite easy to make.
You will need.
- 1/2 cup of melted butter
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 tsp of vanilla extract
- 2 Eggs
- 1/3 cup of cocoa powder (unsweetened)
- 1/2 cup of flour
- 1/4 tsp of salt
- 1/4 tsp of baking powder
- 4 mini candy canes. More or less depending on taste
A spatula, two bowls, and an electric hand mixer are handy to have as well
So first things first, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Then you’re going to need to pop the butter into the microwave for about 30 seconds, and then mix the butter into the sugar, and add the eggs, vanilla.
Next your going to want to mix in a separate bowl the cocoa powder, flour, salt and baking powder, and slowly add the powders to the butter/sugar mix I like to first stir it together with spatula so there is less powder going every where then the mixers are turned on, then with an electric mixer, beat until the batter is a smooth.
Now you’re going to pour the batter into a baking dish and bake for about 25-30 minutes. I like to cook brownies at the lesser time, so that they would be goey and a tiny bit undercooked.
While that’s baking, it’s a good time to crush the candy canes. using a spoon I just hit the mini candy canes until they were small enough for the brownie toppings, and when it comes out of the oven sprinkle the candy cane bits on top. I only put the candy canes on half of the brownies, since no one else likes peppermint.
I think brownies are the easiest thing to make, and they have always come out good… at least I think they do, unlike cupcakes which occasionally come out still good but kind of dry. Also I saw this link saved to my computer with the same recipe so I’m going say it’s save to assume find all of my new recipes from. this one also comes with directions for frosting as well. Which I would suggest using because I tried to make my own by melting some chocolate chips, with butter and mixing in powdered sugar. It tasted alright, but I could not get it to spread, and it doesn’t look very pretty.

Hi, My name is Johnnielynn or . So I have been reading a lot of blogs lately (I’m blaming pinterest) and since I am about as impressionable as a toddler I have decided that I want to write one too. So I started Xojohnnielynn.
There are a lot of people out there that write blogs, so why can’t I? Well to start with I have rewritten this about five times now, because I am not sure enough about myself to just be happy with the first try. But it’s something that I want to do. Maybe I’ll make myself look like an idiot online, maybe no one will even read it. Or maybe some one will, maybe I could do great things with it. Maybe I could make someone feel a bit less alone, maybe something I share can help someone. That would be more then I could expect. If I am being honest I don’t exactly think that I will make a big difference.
