Summer Favorites

I have to accept it, summer is officially over.  It’s only been a few days and I am missing it already.  So as one last good by to my happiest seasons ever I thought I would share with you some of my Summer favorites.

It’s no secret that I love the beach. I will literally sit refreshing the weather app waiting for it hit beach weather then we’re off. The beach is the only place where crowds don’t completly overwhelm me.  Nothing seems to be too bad when I’m there. When you spend as much time at the beach as I do it’s best to stick up on towels – unless you wanna do laundry everyday.   Check out these from fabricdome*.

Mama Mia: Here we go again

I’ve actually gone to the movie theater more then ever. I think other then this summer the last time I’d gone to the movies was when I went to see Alligent like two years ago. I’d had such a panic attack that I don’t even remember anything about the movies. I can’t really handle the dark or crowds so when you put the two together it can get a bit difficult. This year I went a few times with my niece and nephew. We’d seen The Incredibles 2, and Hotel Transylvania 3. They were both great but Mama Mia was the best. I had never been so happy at the movies. I’ve literally had the songs stuck inside my head for weeks now. The DVD release can’t come soon enough.

Wilde Like Me

So I don’t have as much time for reading as I’d like, and I know I am a year late on this book. But it is amazing. I am loving how strong Robin Wilde is. Not only is she strong, but she is so relatable. Louise Pentland wrote an amazing novel. I can’t wait to continue the story in Wilde about the girl.

On the topic of books Scibed has been a fantastic app. Think Netflix but with books. As much as I love physical books, having them all on my phone is the most convenient thing. I still don’t have as much time as I’d like got reading but with this app i can get a bit in any time. Waiting in the drive-thru? Open SCRIBED! On the bus, nap time, waiting for the pre-k kiddos to be released, I know I’ll be on the app reading. Although I think the best feature this app has is, audio books. For when my hands are busy

This metal mermaid is the first piece of “art-work” that I’ve bought. that’s right, I’m a proper adult now. I’d seen this at an art show, it was originally meant for a garden. I was so lucky when I found that they were willing to make a special one with out the stick so I can put it with my room.

This cup, I know it’s kind of silly to put a cup in my favorites but have you ever gotten a slushy in the summer and it’s melted in 10 minutes? Thanks to this cup mine will last for several hours.

Ok so I think it might be a bit of an understatement to say that mermaids are a favorite. It’s also not only been a favorite for this summer.

Beachy Gold eye makeup look.

Do you remember a few weeks ago I Put up a Gold eyes makeup look?  Well today I’m going to update it a bit for you. I’m still loving my Nomad eyeshadow in Desert Sands, so I blended this in all over my eyes.  Then I took a Jumbo pencil from L.A. Colors in the  color pool party and used it to line my upper and lower lash line in bright blue.  Then using a black pencil eyeliner I lined my water line with it.  I also used a black liquid liner to very closely line my upper lash line just to make my lashes look a bit more dramatic.  Then I used Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara.

I think that this gold eyeshadow will look great with any bright eyeliner color.  I like the blue, because it just kind of reminds of the beach, which is totally where I wore it today.   Do you where makeup to the beach? Even if you’re not going toget your face or hair wet?

Beach Park Adventures.

Today the sun is shining, and the kids have been quite well behaved lately.  Even nap time has been super easy, since I had started putting Lavender oil mixed with some lotion on their feet.  It doesn’t make them sleep but it helps them relax enough to fall asleep.  If they want to play and talk they do, so if I have to I can pull her out until he falls asleep then she goes right to sleep.  So I decided that today would be a great time to reward them with a beach park picnic.

So I got the kids from school, then we got a pizza and headed to the park. We had lunch then they were off to play.  At the beach there is a playground structure with a few slides. The only problem is one of them is afraid of heights. Even as a baby, you know how you take a baby and toss them  up in the air, she hated it.  She wants to go on the big slide but she is too scared to get to it.  I guess it’s not the heights that scare her as much as the tiny gaps in the structure. photo 1

She’s getting better as we keep going to the park.  Now she can go on it, as long as she can keep both hands on the bars on the sides.  Most of the time she’s alright, but some days  she just “can’t be brave.”  Today she struggled with being brave and wanted down. He tries to help her, offers to hold her hand, but she didn’t want his help she just wanted me to take her down.  So instead, I went up there sat down with her.  Got her to take a few deep breaths to relax, and reminded her that the slide is way more fun then it is scary. So she tried again, went down and that was the end of it.  she was no longer afraid, and kept playing on the slide.  I wish it was that easy just to do the things that scare me and then after doing it once, be so proud of my self for being brave I am no longer held back by my 2

Anyway, I had told them that they had one more turn down the slides and it was time to go.  They gave me no fuss, went down the slide and headed to the car.  Then I was reminded that I had told them we would walk down the pier. So after grabbing some rocks and sticks (to throw in the lake ) we headed down the pier. Then we left and headed home.  Finally it was time for a book, and nap time. We read The Book With No Pictures,  said good night, and they were asleep with in like 5 minutes.

I love that I live in kind of small town,  where we can go and do fun stuff on nice days.  There are two public parks in town, and my sister lives a mile away from one.  The other is at the beach, which about a five minute drive.  Also there is one near my house, behind the Home Owners Association “club house.”  I mostly just love being outside when the sun is shining.

I’ve had such a great day I just wanted to share it with you.  Tell me in the comments, how was your day.
